Fashion is forever changing and evolving. It not only varies from year to year but also from season to season. Some cities in the world are superbly adept at keeping up with all the latest trends and fads in fashion and are havens for all the big players and aficionados of the fashion industry. Just like the industry itself, the list of the 10 most important fashion capitals of the world changes every year but some names always remain constant. Others come and go, often popping up as surprises that stun all of those who closely follow global fashion.

It is hardly surprising that the capital of France is also the capital of the international fashion scene. The French adore fashion and it can be seen in the fact that some of the biggest giants of the fashion industry hail from hereYves Saint Laurent, Coco Chanel, Christian Dior, Christian Louboutin, among numerous others. Many of the world’s leading fashion schools and design colleges are also located in Paris. These include Ecole de la Chambre Syndicale, LISAA | School of Art & Design,Studio Bercot, Istituto Marangoni, Paris College of Art, etc. Some of the top fashion magazines in the world, such as Elle, are also based out of Paris.
Apart from all of this, Paris Fashion Week is also regarded as the world’s grandest fashion show and attracts fashion royalty and celebrity icons from all over the world. All this has allowed for fashion to become deeply ingrained in the culture of Parisians who are always impeccably dressed from head to toe at all times.
When it comes to fashion, no city comes close to competing with Paris the way New York City does. NYC has frequently held the top spot in the list of top fashion capitals on the globe and is a city that always puts its best fashion foot forward.
